Hillary for the Cabinet, but not necessarily as Secretary of State

Naming Hillary as being in his Cabinet would be a phenomenal option for Obama.

First, it might help to bring back Clinton supporters who are writing in her name or voting for McCain. Yes, there are not a huge number, but we will need every vote we can get in this election. It would also serve a symbolic value. At the Democratic convention, Unity signs were held up during Clinton's speech; this is a way to make that wish reality.

Second, it would make it much harder for McCain to attack him on experience if Obama shows what kind of people he will be consulting. Giving the American public the idea of the caliber of people Obama trusts and uses as advisors might make some people less critical of his relative inexperience.

However, I'm not sure if I agree with her being Secretary of State. While that is a high-level position and would show how much Obama appreciates her input (to placate Clinton supporters), I would prefer to see her in a position where she could institute her health care plan. It seems that health care was one of her pivotal platforms and one of the things that Obama doesn't have quite as strong or as clear of an answer on -- or at least, so saith the all-powerful media, who never reports on his plan. I'm not intimately familiar with the cabinet positions, but one option for Clinton could be the Secretary of Health and Human Services, or somewhere else where she could concentrate on health instead of foreign policy (Secretary of State).

Hillary WOULD be much better suited for something domestic, where she would finally be able to see policy that she has been nursing since she was First Lady. Health Care was really the only point where she and Barack disagreed, and I have a feeling it was more because they needed to disagree on SOMETHING during the campaign, otherwise they'd be indistinguishable on paper. Barack should definitely pick someone with much more foreign policy experience, or even keep Condi Rice on, who in my opinion has done a marvelous job. If it's not broken, don't fix it.

Certainly not Bill Clinton though, good grief people. The man is done with politics, but even if he would ever consider such an offer, would we really want the Clinton Clan back in the White House again? It was good until the end, but do we really want to invite all that drama back? I certainly don't. Bill was a great president, but he made poor decisions in his personal life, which isn't very personal when you are running the free world. Thanks, but no thanks.
