I see the logic in keeping Gates as Sec'y of Defense for a time. But then I'd like to see Jim Webb move into that position.

Defense Secretary Gates is one of the only good people in the entire Bush cabinet. He's intellectually curious, he seems to have the best interest of the United States and our Armed Forces at heart, and he has done a lot of good things with the terrible situation handed to him. I believe he would work in a non-partisan and constructive way to support the orderly exit from Iraq.

Let's be honest, whatever you think of Gov. Palin, she was a gamechanger. So take the narrative back instead of playing defense. Announce key cabinet positions within the next week. Suggestions:

Secretary of Defense: ask Robert Gates to stay on (a Republican) or Chuck Hagel, Sam Nunn.

Secretary of State: Hillary Clinton or Bill Clinton

Attorney General: Patrick Fitzgerald
