I know this will not go over well with many hard-liners, but by pushing to reach out to senators like Lieberman (i.e. forgiving him) will make the next 4 years move a lot smoother. Especially without the 60+ seat majority you can expect the Republican party to try to entrench. If you are forgiving and reach out to those that many would like to see punished, we stop the war and start anew. And the country needs that right now.

Wait until 2010 when we have 70+ senate seats. THEN, tell Lieberman to take a hike!

I disagree. I think we absolutely need to reach out to Republicans. Lieberman is a different case. I don't think it's a good idea to send the message to other senators and congressman that you will be forgiven if you fight your party on something as important as the presidency. Obviously we want his vote, and on most issues we will get it. And we want to work with him. But he needs to be punished in some way, and everyone in congress needs to know about it, whether or not the American people do.
The response here might be that he's technically an independent. And that's true. But if you want to follow that logic then he shouldn't get any committee chairmanships for being the senior member of the majority party. That's actually probably a pretty good compromise.
