Yes, the American Auto industry needs help. And, Needs it ASAP.
Yes, the Government can help the Auto Industry, help our death-spiral economy and make strides towards Obama's engergy independence and environmental goals.
How?
Govt can provide funding (financial bailout if you will) to keep them going - but 75% of the $$ goes to NEW Green autos/technology. Autos that the American's can afford ($7K-$10K range - not the $20-$30K range that are on the market and American's will never be able to afford).
The reason the auto industry is failing has to do with them still building the high end and the gas-guzzler vehicles. Huge cars that American can't afford right now. Gas guzzlers, which people don't want because most Americans want to do their part to help our environment and help to become independent from foreign oil.
If the Govt can help the Auto industry buy the parts for the green cars, that will keep the production lines running, keep the suppliers of material and assemblies in business, keep American's working. If the Govt can help the auto industry reduce the price of these green vehicles, than the American people can actually afford to buy one.
If there's more of a choice, more green cars available and at an affordable price, then American can make a huge leap towards "reducing emissions" and becoming self-sufficient, and helping our planet!
If this is truly one of P.E.-Obama's goals, then here's a huge opportunity to help the economy, help people keep their jobs, and help our environment.
It's a win win. It's so simple!
