The idea is simple: Millions of modern or new vehicles remain unselled. This costs the car manufacturers a lot of money, and they are now reducing their production and firing talented and hard working people. This spiral can be broken.
In third world countries in all over the world the majority of vehicles is outdated and extremely polluting. For example: take a look at the 'bright' skies of Bangkok and Mexico City. I suggest the car manufacturers should maintain their normal production numbers, keep everybody at work and as long as this crisis lasts sell their vehicles for cost price to third world countries.
This enables us to reduce CO2 emmission significantly for a longer period of time, since todays vehicles can last for over 20 years. The worldwide unemployment rate can be reduced and car manufacturers (and suppliers) are prepared for better times, since they are keeping enough employees. The cars are sold for cost price, but that's better than no money at all and firing thousands of skilled workers.
This is also a chance to help third world countries. Finally the economy keeps running, maybe with low profits, but for the better of us all and the environment.
