Thanks for the post.

Ignore his comment. McCain

Ignore his comment. McCain will do his best to make the President look bad because he lost the race. The President of the United States have bigger fish to fry. The priority is the Economy and the War. God bless the United States

Stimulus Opposition

Run negative ads against legislators in their home districts when they oppose stimulus plans. Point out they are unpatriotic if they oppose rebuilding america. This will give them an incentive to cooperate. The 2010 elections are not far away.

I am frustrated by failure to answer negative, and intentional, misrepresentations of comments made by Barack. In this instance the comment to Joe about "spread the wealth". Why is there not a direct statement from the campaign that this is not weath redistribution but rather it is our turn (middle class) to get tax breaks that in the past have greatly benefited the rich with only marginal benefit to middle class, although falsely peddled as benefitting main street (the old trickle down)?

Next, why not turn the McCain comments back toward him to show that he is not for sharing the wealth, again, eventhough he says his plan is to give tax breaks to middle class?

I agree with showing that Joe doen't understand Barack's proposal (probably the diference beween gross income and taxable income), but the bigger issue is McCain's misleading the public about what he will do.

Obama responses

I agree completely. Obama cannot allow McCain to get away with this kind of crap. Undecided and independent voters want to see a person that is forceful and stands up for himself. I think that they ask themselves - how can he be the leader of our country and face up to aggressive world leaders if he can't stand up to McCain.
They call it a campaign because it's a WAR.

Ask What's it all about John?

Anonymous 1 year 22 weeks 3 days 4 hours ago

In his choice of a running mate did John McCain choose fro all possible candidates in his party the best person for the job should the occasion/ need to so do arise. OR did he choose a running mate simply to help him in his race to achieve a life long elusive goal – the title of presidency.

I agree with you, but...

I do think Obama would need to be very careful as to how "trivial" is defined. What's trivial to one person might not be to another. Sadly, for many people, race is still an issue even though it shouldn't be, for example. To the converted, and to those already predisposed to be liberal in their thinking (and by liberal I mean according to the dictionary as opposed to the political meaning), this will have the right effect. To the borderline cases of right-wing brainwashing, however, it could just lose votes. To put this clearly, think of someone who really needs reassuring that Obama is 'truly American' and that he has 'America's interests at heart' rather than just the issues of minorities. Someone who is still suspicious that Obama sympathizes with extremist muslims, despite this being another Republican smear. This person is probably still hung up on Obama's name, and isn't focusing on the 'real issues' as much as Democrat supporters are. If McCain makes reference in some way to Obama not being as patriotic as himself, and Obama shouts this down as trivial, that person would feel that Obama has dodged an important issue. The same is true of any number of 'trivial' issues. Obama shouldn't dwell on them, but they need to be shot down - people need to know that they are trivial, and they need to know why. Not an easy task (not dwelling on it, but still getting that message across).

What to say in debate when McCain goes negative

blackjackman@gm... 1 year 23 weeks 13 hours 55 min ago

The next debate Obama can seal it. When McCain starts attacking on trivial B.S. Obama has to say "are you serious John?!.. c'mon are you really serious?.. Our economy is in a mess and we are stuck in an endless war and you want to talk about this? I'm going to pull a Sarah Palin here and not answer your question but not because I don't have an answer.. but because I have important issues I want to talk about like..."

McCain's age

alvy1972 1 year 25 weeks 2 days 14 hours ago

Obama has to be careful bringing up age as an issue because the McCain campaign could then charge ageism and try, once again, to focus away from the real issues. I think focusing on his age as more of a health issue, rather than just age would be more beneficial.

If Obama jumps in the gutter

KetchupSoldier 1 year 25 weeks 3 days 42 min ago

If Obama jumps in the gutter now/responds forcefully, I will be VERY disappointed in him. I was so excited that we finally had a candidate who just let criticism bounce off of him.

Responding to McCain negative campaign

John Edward 1 year 25 weeks 5 days 14 hours ago

Use "Old" a lot and any word meaning old when refering to McCain. He is clearly at the just pre-frail stage of life. Unlikely to complete the first term. There are already fundamentalist groups praying for his death (I am not kidding about this).

Combination of two: Respond

MaximusDemocracy 1 year 25 weeks 6 days 1 hour ago

Combination of two:

Respond forcefully and hit back hard when necessary, make sure everything passes the truth test, but make sure what you hit back with directly relates to the issues/supports Obama's side of the issues while combating McCain's negative campaigning. Don't play cat and mouse, just shatter each negative ad one by one while ALWAYS being sure to point out the alternative Obama offers.
