A student graduating from college with massive student loans has several options, they can get a job and start paying them off, or join an organization like the AmeriCorp or PeaceCorp etc. and defer their loans until their time volunteering is over. I say, significantly help pay student loans for people who serve their country in whatever way they choose. Give them more options!

We're now into September, and despite the fact that Republicans have all but run this country into the ground, the race between Obama and McCain is currently a toss up. To me, this is quite a disturbing fact. There are a few things that I believe Obama hasn't been placing enough emphasis on throughout his campaigning.

As most people know tuition prices are soaring. I know that Obama says he's going to be pull those down but I want to know how. This will greatly appeal to seniors in high school who can vote in November. Unfortunately I can't but I have the same concerns. My parents have sacrificed a lot to send me to private school for elementary, middle and high school.

Just in case you don't know, the patriot act is an act that allows the government to arrest and detain anybody (yes, anybody) that they suspect of terrorism. This means people can be held for up to nienty days WITHOUT A TRIAL. No evidence is needed, just the vaugest suspicion of terrorism. Detainees are often held at the god-forsaken Guantanamo bay detention center and tortured.

Republicans HATE social programs...and have famously screwed them up. The number of people living in poverty in our country continues to rise -- yet our programs are structured to perpetuate reliance upon them. If a family finds themselves in need of assistance -- and they meet the criteria, they receive it.
