OBama (and Biden if possible) should visit EVERY state at least once before Election Day. This will help drive home the fact that the Democrats are competing in every state - the days of conceding the south to the GOP are over. A Democratic rally in Alaska would certainly generate quite a bit of buzz, as would one in Arizona (whose governor has supported Obama from the beginning).

You can turn on CNN, Fox, or NBC and find one of the anchors asking a McCain spokesman, "Why is Palin the best possible VP choice?"
Their answers normally consist of "Obama doesn't have executive experience, Palin does."

The key to swinging Ohio is to effectively use Gov. Strickland in the southern part of the state, where he is from. Obama doesn't have to win the rural vote in southern Ohio but he needs to keep t close. Anything under 10 points and Obama wins the state. He will take the big cities just like in the primaries, but he can't afford to lose this area like he did.

Get publicly recognizable individuals within the party to campaign on specific issues. Giving speeches on smaller scales in key states and on key areas; focussing on gaining maximum attention from local media and also associating the events with the national campaign (e.g.

Obama is doubtless invited to hundreds of thousands of smalltown events, which most politicians dont attend because the size voter base paying attention is not a cost/time effective event. However, if these smalltown appearances could be publicized by the campaign and the media similar to the way the rallys are. Alternatively, begin to hold rallys in small towns to boost local economies.
