Reality check for America Part 2 New Commercial strategy

This campaign strategy is not your typical political kiss the baby and smile style but more in your face truth style campaigning... that pushes the Barack Obama campaign to get closer to America than any other candidate has ever done.

John McCain: He ain't what he used to be.

Set to the tune "Old Grey Mare", this commercial is a side-by-side comparison of the "maverick" McCain of yesteryear and the mudslinging McCain of today.

The timing couldn't be better for this concept: The media is finally calling his campaign on its lies. Obama's Out of Touch campaign is turning heads. His appeal to Democrats and Independents is waning.

Put the Real People from the Convention in the commercials

The speeches by "real people" were one of the highlights of the convention. One reason Palin is popular is some people think she's "one of us" -- let's show that ordinary people "just like us" are Obama supporters!

Focus on Ohio and Michigan

These two states have been hit hardest by the failed policies of the Bush Administration. I live in Ohio and am sick of seeing McCain ads almost exclusively. We need to see ads that attack McCain's new views, and talk about Sarah Palin's involvement in the bridge to nowhere. We need to see ads of real Ohio and Michigan families talking about the situation that we are in, and why we NEED change.

Show, not tell!

Saying the word "Change!" doesn't actually illustrate change. When you write a story and try to move readers, you don't tell your readers whats happening, you show them, and by showing them you make them experience it. Inspire people with the commercials, show bipartisanship and key points, and then show McCain's hypocrisy and remind people what they hated about Bush.

Better Ads and the Silent Majority

Obama needs to make television advertisements that are a little bit more effective. The current ads are too run of the mill. They add nothing to the political climate and thus the public's view of Obama. He doesn't need to attack by being mean. Attack by being clever. The 3am phone call was clever. The ones I see are not. Give the public something more to think about than the slogan and symbol.

Create a series of "Here's what I believe..." ads

Run a series of 15-second ads featuring only Barack, casually dressed, against a white cyc. Each ad will begin with "Here's what I believe...." and proceed to describe an idea. The ideas should be simple, action-oriented, and specific, not broad strokes and positions on the issues.

Bush, BUSH BUSH!

Tie Bush to everything McCain does. If he voted 95% of the time with W. remind everyone! Voters should see W. in every single McCain commerical. It doesn't matter if its overt or subliminal. Even if it has nothing to do with Bush, we should see his face and Cheney's as much as possible. Remind voters that McCain is the same party, with the same voting record. BUSH BUSH BUSH. Tie McCain to Bush.
