Americans are encountering a financial crisis, spending money they don't have and running up huge debt with credit cards. The federal government needs to set the example by creating a balanced budget and real fiscal responsibility.

John McCain is now trying to blame the deficit on the Democrats that are in Congress. As we know that is a flat out lie. Obama should talk about how Bush/McCain policies have lead to record deficits and has left the debt to nearly 10 trillion dollars.

A DNC Analysis of McCain's new spending proposals show they would total between $7.2 trillion and $8.7 trillion, while the savings he's proposed would total $183 billion, leaving a short-fall of $7 trillion to $8.5 trillion over ten years.

2) Reinstate "paygo" rules in the Congress
3) Letting the Bush tax cuts expire
