Get the Wall Street Journal on your side

Obama needs to get advice from investors and become the fiscally responsible candidate that the average investor can trust. McCain should be hammered as a classic Big Oil, Good Old Boy.

Take the Mantel of Fiscal Responsibility Away from Republicans

They aren't fiscally responsible anymore. They haven't been for eight years. Obama should claim the mantel of the more fiscally responsible. He should give specifics, like which specific broken programs he plans to nix and how much they'll save.

Where's the money?

Obama needs to go after McCain in the presidential debates, asking where the money will come from to continue funding the war in Iraq - especially if McCain intends to continue the Bush tax cuts. Outline Plan for Economic Responsibility

I'm certainly on board with the changes Obama is proposing, but in talking to my dad -who used to be a Democrat, then and independent and now is a Republican- he made a very good point. We need to at least move in the direction of balancing the budget.

Make transparency a central issue in the campaign

Obama has put forth many ideas related to transparency -- negotiations broadcast on C-SPAN, "Google for government", etc. This is unique among presidential politics and should be made a central dimension of the campaign. He should also take care to link it to being fiscally responsible.
