Facebook vs Myspace: friendly fundraising competition

Mount a competition between BO supporters on Facebook vs Myspace. Pick a time and date (like the first debate, for example). Put links on each site for the competition, and whichever site raises the most $$ (either overall or per supporter) is the winner!! Big press release when its over announcing a $20 million in two hours!

Green-card holders and fundraising

Many green-card holders (i.e. legal immigrants) may not realize that while they cannot vote, they CAN donate to a campaign. Make sure they know this, and start viral fundraising within this demographic.

Concert Tour of bands whose material McCain ripped off

It could be a concert tour of the swing states with Van Halen, Heart and all the others who have sued McCain to get him to stop using their material in his campaign. It could be free, or cheap admission with a large part of the proceeds going to a 527 or DNC or whatever.

Tell normal people *why* you need our money

I have a vague idea of where the Obama campaign feels like they're short on money (is it all advertising?), but people like me, who don't know much about the political machine, would be much more likely to give money if they knew what their money was going to do.

Once in a lifetime experiences/contests

The Obama campaign has unlimited fundraising opportunities. People will pay and work to fundraise to enter contests with rewards that let them get up close and personal, even for just an hour, with Obama and Biden. These are heroes to a lot of people. I am lucky enough to have met Barack in 2006, and i wont ever forget it. Some possible contests:

Quantify where the campaign money is going and why you need more.

It's time to intersperse all of your online fundraising messages with some notes to supporters that tell WHY you need more money, WHAT you're going to spend it on, and HOW their sacrifice and donation will make a crical difference.

It should be simple, to the point. But it should be more substantial than just saying, "We need more cause the other side's got more."

Voices for Obama

So, as evidenced by this website, Obama has a HUGE grassroots campaign going. Why not use that in advertisements for the president? Sure theres some ideas about small videos, but this one kicks it up a notch.

Obama Frisbees

I think it would be great if the Obama campaign sold Frisbees with the Obama logo on them in the online store. It would really appeal to young voters (one of Obama's key demographics) and the logo would look great on a Frisbee. I know lots of people who would buy one.

We must remember: "It's the Swing States, Stupid!"

If we've learned anything from the previous two elections (and indeed many prior to that), it's that the best way to screw up a perceived lead in the polls is failing to place adequate resources into the swing States that will decide the electoral vote. Current polls always focus on the popular (national) vote, but this statistic is virtually meaningless in terms of the actual outcome.
