Get Obama out touring hurricane-ravaged areas

We need to hit the republicans in the place that they think they have a monopoly on - national security.

How to Outmanuver the GOP at Hurricane Relief

The GOP has outmanuvered Obama on Hurricane relief. Effectively cancelling their convention makes the triumph of the DNC look like a faked and staged show. In order to win now Obama needs to personally go to the gulf coast with the clintons, al gore and as many supporters as he can and volunteer to physically help the red cross.

The Gulf Coast dodged a bullet with Gustav...

...and we might not be as lucky next time. Barack should remind everyone of how little has been done since Katrina, and propose a massive public works project to build a levee and flood-prevention system comparable to that of the Netherlands. It'll be expensive, but probably not more than a few months in Iraq. And, of course, it will generate lots of jobs.

Red Cross Commercial

The user "nickbates" came up with this idea:

Gustav was a much weaker storm when it hit New Orleans, on top of that the center of the storm did not directly hit the city and it moved past New Orleans faster then Katrina.

It takes a hurricane, during the RNC convention,

...for Republicans to put on their American hats.

I wonder if anyone will ask if they were un-American before that day?

Donate to a Gustav-Related Charity Instead of Campaign

Rather than donate to your campaign, ask supporters to earmark their funds toward those impacted by Gustav. Make the call national--Facebook, Myspace, MoveOn.

Gustav - SE US Campaign support

With rumors that McCain may decide to turn the GOP convention into what will likely be a much needed campaign effort - Obama supporters must return the gesture.
- Perhaps the campaign locations in the SE can become command centers for the Red Cross?
- Become locations that are nationally publicized for where food, water, supplies can be shepped?

DON'T use Hurricane Gustav as a political tool!!

This is a time to demonstrate bi-partisan cooperation and service to help those affected by the hurricane NOT a chance to bad mouth the Republicans. Yes, everyone remembers how the current administration screwed up with Katrina...being reminded is not helpful right now.
