I heard once from a Democratic party organizer that the most effective way to get someone out to the polls is to ask them *in person* to vote, as a favor to you. Second best is to call them and ask the same thing. Phone-banking is prevalent for that reason. But what would have even more impact than making a phone call to someone you don't know and asking them to vote for Obama?

Why not start a project where senior citizen supporters of Senator Obama call fellow senior citizens in battleground states? My father and step-mother -- senior citizen New Yorkers -- really want to do this and they would commit to making a certain numbers of calls each week. They are Jewish and also want to call Jewish senior citizens to persuade them to vote for Senator Obama.

The Obama campaign needs to publish/manage calling lists for voters in swing states with an 'educate the public' script along the lines of move-on.org's Bush-McCain can you tell them apart. Apparently not many people know the new McCain - or the fact that even the old John McCain was rated 100% AGAINST a woman's right to choose.

The Obama campaign should set up a system whereby volunteers across the nation can send personal e-mails (not mass e-mails) to individual voters. It would work similar to a phone bank but with e-mail. E-mail lists could be harvested from Democratic Party records and online public information records. I know young volunteers would be especially interested in this.
