Read more »On May 28, 2008, in Thornton, Colorado, Obama laid out an exciting national agenda for education. Yet there was something conspicuously absent. Obama failed to mention Adult Basic Education. No matter how good a school and teacher, children raised by poorly literate parents are at a distinct disadvantage. The 4-million undereducated adults in the U.S. also means a diminished economy.

John Edwards is a responsible voice on behalf of the poor and Obama can display his dedication to the issue by making a concerted effort to address it.
