Palin's Church: Pray the Gay Away

Gov. Sarah Palin's church is promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer.

"You'll be encouraged by the power of God's love and His desire to transform the lives of those impacted by homosexuality," according to the insert in the bulletin of the Wasilla Bible Church, where Palin has prayed for about six years.

anyone stumbled over this??

I'm in the middle of digging around and verifying some sources for what I have read here: http://www.realchange.org/mccain.htm .
But if only half of this is true then I think the heads of Obamas campaign should get their heads around some of the mentioned issues in the article..I guess there will be quite a few points to hit McCain with.

PS: a nice little quote:

Episicopalian versus Baptist?

Up until 2007 John McCain identified himself to the media as an Episcopalian. Suddenly, he is a Baptist, yet there are no records of him being baptized. I find this interesting as one must be baptized to be a Baptist. I'm not saying to get into an argument about faith, but it does once again show that McCain will do and say anything politically expedient (including lie) to get himself elected.

Reclaiming Christianity...

When a person thinks of a Republican they automatically equate the party with Christianity...why? Why is it that Republicans get to lay claim to Christian values? They are pro-rich, anti-poor / pro-war, anti-peace...and worst of all they deny the most important Christian virtue, forgiveness and the tenet to "Judge not lest ye be judged."

Education

There is no underestimating the value of a well educated population. Under education is at the root of nearly all of our problems in this country. Poverty, drugs, fundamentalist religion, overpopulation, teen pregnancy, overwhelming debt, the war in iraq, the election of bush. Let's give our teachers more than enough money so that there's competition to become a teacher.

culture wars

i think obama has to take on the culture wars directly but be careful not to demonize voters or appear to talk down to them as being stupid or unsophisticated etc. he needs to make plain that the culture war is a tactic that the right has been using for decades. it is predictable.

Acknowledge the Freethought Community

There are more Atheists, Agnostics, skeptics, and humanists in this country than all non-Christians combined. We want to hear what Obama is going to do to help separate church and state, and we just want him to recognize the large percentage of freethinkers in this country! There is lots of talk of God in these campaigns, and sometimes we feel left out.

Obama needs to start talking about Hope again

I was watching some of Obama's earlier speeches today, namely, the ones he made after the victories in Iowa and South Carolina, and the concession speech in New Hampshire. One thing that struck me while watching them was that they had a "spiritual" component that seems to be less apparent recently.

Unify the blogosphere

The blogosphere is now sufficiently saturated in US society that attitudes evolved in blogspace leak out to the general populace, the majority of whom will never, or rarely, read a blog. Unifying the blogosphere to effect the message and attitude of the electorate is therefore crucial.

Have the IRS Revoke Tax-exempt status of Churches that Preach Politics

Churches, mosques and synagogues are required by law to remain out of politics to retain their tax exempt status. Religious institutions should stay out of politics, period, and the IRS should revoke the tax-exempt status of any religious institution that plays politics or endorses a political candidate.
The law is clear on this issue. It is now time to enforce the law.
