There is no underestimating the value of a well educated population. Under education is at the root of nearly all of our problems in this country. Poverty, drugs, fundamentalist religion, overpopulation, teen pregnancy, overwhelming debt, the war in iraq, the election of bush. Let's give our teachers more than enough money so that there's competition to become a teacher.

On May 28, 2008, in Thornton, Colorado, Obama laid out an exciting national agenda for education. Yet there was something conspicuously absent. Obama failed to mention Adult Basic Education. No matter how good a school and teacher, children raised by poorly literate parents are at a distinct disadvantage. The 4-million undereducated adults in the U.S. also means a diminished economy.
