If Obama really wants to shake things up, he should reach out to the independents and pledge to work with them in an Obama administration. Really sell this "Team of Rivals" philosophy. Channel images of Lincoln, not Kennedy. While the results would be unpredictable, it would sure sure make things interesting.

Obama always says that we should focus on being Americans rather than Republicans or Democrats. The best way to show this would be to nominate several Republicans for cabinet positions. A great place to start would be with Gen. David Petraeus as his Secretary of Defense.
