Barack is doing a great job of trying to create a more personal connection with voters, but to subtly emphasize that fact, he needs to switch from using "you" with voters to "we/us." I was in France just before Obama's scheduled visit. By going to Europe BEFORE he is president, he sent a very clear message to the rest of the world ... he would not ignore and /or violate US agreements and global responsibility like his predecessor. I lived abroad for nearly 20 years and under the Bush administration it became almost intolerable to be an American abroad.
