Make sure Joe Biden uses every opportunity to focus his attacks on John McCain instead of Sarah Palin. By doing this no one can accuse him of being ungracious or condescending to her.

After the DNC I found Biden to be more appealing than I ever realized. His is salt-of-the-earth, tells it like it is, not a smooth talker, has a tragic family story in his background, etc. That would have had a chance to play out if the Palin version of "folksy" hadn't trumped it in such spectacular, plastic, scripted fashion.

Although there is an agreement in principle there is no need to rush this to conclusion on McCains schedule, i.e. before the 9:00 pm debate on Friday. How do you suppose the voting undecided voters would view an empty chair at the debates?
