The Republicans successfully framed the argument and cut off debate, that the response to 9-11 should have been handled by the military and spy agencies and not treated as a "law enforcement" issue. But they made us less safe. The military and CIA are not designed nor trained to hunt down individuals, interrogate, collect evidence, and build a transparent, and constitutional case against them.
