Obama needs to take control of the patriotism conversation and turn it back on McCain. Speeches and ads should powerfully address McCain's "un-American" positions, and twist McCain's "Country First" slogan into "Politics First" ("Party First", etc...).

When you win the nomination, give a stirring, powerful speech with the major Democratic leaders, like Pelosi, Sebelius, Richardson, Edwards, Kennedy, Gore, Biden, Dodd, etc. all standing behind you. Hillary doesn't have to be there. Challenge John McCain directly on continuing the failed policies of Bush.

McCain has more skeletons in his closet simply because he's been in politics longer (ties w/ lobbyists, his wife's drug theft from her own charity, his involvement in the Keating Five scandal, etc.). If he starts attacking and digging for dirt, Obama must strike back. McCain probably stands to lose more if the negative campaigns start.

Can't let "Swift Boat" attacks slide. Obama must immediately respond to the smallest gaffe up to the largest smear. Republican attacks are like bees: one sting is a bother, but a hundred stings will kill you.
