The US government says that drilling will decrease the price of oil about 3 cents, and most people don't believe this. This is about the environment and the economy, but it's also about the McCain campaign misleading the public. The line is "I want my 3 cents NOW!" The source is the Bush Administration. I'm still missing a punch-line. Something about having to wait for 10 years.

McCain's people seem to be touting that Sarah Palin is some kind of energy expert and that she stands up to big oil. This seems just silly considering that her state pulls in big revenues from big oil and that she's for drilling in ANWR. I mean, come on, it was speculated that oil prices would go down if she were chosen as the VP nominee (but Gustav put a momentary stop on that).

I think most people in America that have responded positively to the notion of drilling don't really understand that this drilling won't be nationalized. They think that the oil that is produced in these areas is automatically ours. They don't understand that private companies like Exxon, Chevron will just sell this on the world market and we will have to buy it at market price.
