McCain seems to be trying to steal some of Obama's change message, so let's counter by stealing one of his messages - that his opponent is nothing but talk:

Start w/ a few video clips of McCain stumping, saying "I'm gonna change Washington."

Actions speak louder than words.
Barack has been great in all his speaches. His promises sound so wonderful, id like to see a little more action and focus on what each candidate can do for this country not what they think about each other. We need a leader someone who will make the best decisions and bring this nation together as a whole under god so that we can turn things back around.

Politics of the New
Praise John McCain for his nomination. Do it with a commercial the same day he accepts the nomination. Also, get as much media exposure as possible during the next few weeks. Do not let the post convention bump in the ratings go down. In other words, avoid being Dukakised.

Take Patriotism Back from the Republicans
Senator Obama did an excellent job of refuting classical Republican arguments during his acceptance speech. That is exactly where we have to hit them--at the core of their argument of patriotism and political motivation.

The real new politics.
Obama has a real shot at the presidency. At least, we all hope he does. And there is one thing he could do that, I believe, would seal the deal for him.

Same old same old
It's a simple line that resonates. Every time the McCain Campaign drums up the same old tired Republican lines that they've used against every Democrat for 30 years the talking points for Democrats should be the phrase same old same old... Same points out that he's just another Bush, Reagan, Nixon, old style politician... and old says more about his style and way of thinking than his age.

DON'T use Hurricane Gustav as a political tool!!
This is a time to demonstrate bi-partisan cooperation and service to help those affected by the hurricane NOT a chance to bad mouth the Republicans. Yes, everyone remembers how the current administration screwed up with Katrina...being reminded is not helpful right now.

McCain: Politics First
Obama needs to take control of the patriotism conversation and turn it back on McCain. Speeches and ads should powerfully address McCain's "un-American" positions, and twist McCain's "Country First" slogan into "Politics First" ("Party First", etc...).

Stay on target...stay on target....stay on target!
Sen. Obama must stay on his target message of "no politics as usual". Despite the attacks on his campaign by the Old Guard, he cannot be dragged down to their level. The ad about McCain's celebrity was not a good idea. It just seemed as if he was being dragged into the "tit for tat" politics of old.
