Picking Sarah Palin by itself demonstrates that McCain puts politics and not country first, and by itself disqualifies him from being president. In a time of national financial crisis and with outstanding foreign policy issues, she is arguably the least qualified person ever to be put in the position of potentially being the president.

The subtext of all the biography-flogging at the RNC is the belief that John McCain should be given the presidency as a reward for all he's done in his life, as if the presidency should be a grateful nation's way of saying thanks. The fact is, McCain wants to be president because he thinks he has it coming to him. To him (and the GOP at large) it's a matter of entitlement.

Am I alone here? McCain was at the bottom of his class in high school and went into Vietnam and was captured, tortured and sent home. It's an admirable thing he did for the country, but in what way does this qualify him to be president? I think Obama should ask McCain not to use his war record as a reason for him to be president, and instead focus on his judgment and achievements in the Senate.
