It seems that the very thing that McCain has the greatest control over, - the tone, tenure and content of his campaign - is the the area he has no interest in reforming the Republican's ways even though the general public is sick and tired of distortions, fabrications, innuendo and down right lies. Mavericks? bogus -- 95% bush and 100% corrupt Alaska Stevens machine. Reformers? bogus -- same old nasty campaign personal attacks and Palin supported the bridge to nowhere and earmarks. By now we should all be aware that the republicans wisely picked Palin to appeal simultaneously to the extreme right (abortion, gitmo, drilling) and the middle (reformer, hockey mom, outsider).

I have a friend in Arizona whose grandparents lost everything. McCain and four other senators were found to have pressured federal regulators into looking the other way while Charles Keating was ripping people off.

Read more »As I watched the RNC speeches tonight, the platform on which the Republican's stood was that of John McCain's heroism and tenure in Senate. While I (like most other Americans) believe that John should be recognized for being a war hero and a senate leader I believe the Republican's are making the campaign a referendum on McCain's heroism vs. Obama's lack thereof.
