We need to reframe the debate over oil and drilling by making Al Gore's case that a long-term, highly funded campaign for energy independence is a patriotic mission similar to landing on the moon. We need to show that energy independence will create millions of AMERICAN jobs, while keeping our money here at home and driving scientific innovation.

An energy program that includes conservation on the part of all Americans. A national investment in creating alternative sources of energy focused on clean power for buildings and vehicles. A program that would make it clear to OPEC the United States is pulling out of the international oil markets and support for multi-national oil companies.
