It may be risky in terms of the "buying the vote" criticism but who cares. I say, publicize early and often (billboards by public transportation would reach the most of the needy audience), all of the help Obama volunteers can give voters on election day. From childcare, to rides, to legal representation for employees who's employers refuse to let them leave to vote.

Set a goal (not a mandate) that electric motors propel every new car in 10 years. Set milestone goals for every 2 years. Energy storage agnostic. Batteries, ultracapacitors, hydrogen, liquid natural gas, synthetic hydrocarbon, gasoline, or others in any combination. Create revenue neutral program to give rebates for lower carbon producing vehicles, fees for higher carbon producing vehicles.

America's infrastructure is crumbling. It's bridges, dams, school buildings and transportation networks need major repairs and a major investment of capital. With gasoline prices moving upward and upward, we need major public investment in our public transit infrastructure in all our metropolitan areas. Investing in infrastructure is true economic stimulus.
