The Obama campaign should respond when asked whether the surge has been successful, "I would say the surge was successful when the troops are home!" Leave it at that, cue the big applause from the audience.

This machine could easily take on one additional goal: Provide simple guidance to all votes, links to non-partisan groups and websites, resources for change in America. People are ready now to change.

I think a much more powerful, stronger opening address could be more helpful rather than reading a few random names off of a notecard and then getting to the actual speech.

What victory means to McCain, though, has never been defined, likely because McCain himself has no idea. Pressing this point, I feel, would shift the Iraq focus once again on the "What the hell are we doing there?" question.
